Why Hemp?

In the search for sustainable living and environmentally conscious choices, hemp emerges as a remarkable alternative that not only supports a greener planet but also offers a big list of benefits for the textile, baby product, and beauty industries.

It's essential to understand that while hemp and marijuana both belong to the Cannabis sativa family, they are distinct in their properties and uses. The key differentiator lies in the levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Hemp contains negligible amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), rendering it non-psychoactive and safe for various applications.

Choosing hemp textiles is a powerful step towards fostering sustainability in the textile industry:

  • Saves water - Hemp uses 50% less water than Cotton;
  • No pesticides and herbicides - Hemp plants are natural pest repellents. Meanwhile, Cotton industry uses more than 16% of world’s pesticides;
  • Growing hemp requires less land than flax or cotton due to its taller plant structure;
  • Most durable in the textile industry: 4 times stronger than cotton, 6 times stronger than Flax linen. Ensuring longevity and resilience in the final products;
  • Regenerates and improves the soil - enriches soil with nitrogen and oxygen, restores pH levels and combats erosion. It also naturally removes heavy metals and increases the yield of subsequent crops;
  • 100% biodegradable;
  • Absorbs a lot more CO2: Hemp absorbs 9-15 tonnes/hectare vs Cotton 2-4 tonnes/hectare;
  • Highly renewable – Hemp can yiel 200-250% more fiber in the same amount of land comparative to cotton;
  • Produces large amounts of pollen, a vital nutritional source for beesduring periods of floral scarcity;
  • Hemp processing generates zero waste: every part of the hemp plant, from its roots to its flowers, can be utilized or converted into something else;
  • Helps reducing deforestation - Hemp is a good and sustainable source of cellulose for paper making. It can produce up to 4 times that of a mature tree plantation, on a hectare basis. Also, hemp paper can be recycled 7-8 times, compared with only 3-5 times for tree paper.
Other benefits:
  • Antibacterial and antifungal;
  • Hypoallergenic – perfect for sensitive skin;
  • Breathable – absorbs the moisture and regulates the temperature;
  • Natural UV protection;
  • Doesn’t Shrink and retains the colour much more than cotton or linen.

When it comes to baby products, hemp textiles offer a gentle and safe option for baby bedsheets and care products. The hypoallergenic nature of hemp fibers makes them ideal for baby's sensitive skin, reducing the risk of irritation or allergic reactions. It's natural UV protection, helps to protect sensitive baby skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Additionally, hemp's natural breathability helps regulate temperature, ensuring that babies stay comfortable and cozy throughout the night.

Hemp extends its benefits to natural baby body products, providing a chemical-free alternative for parents who prioritize the well-being of their little ones. Hemp seed oil, known for its nourishing properties, can be incorporated into baby lotions and creams, offering a gentle and effective solution for moisturizing delicate baby skin.

Hemp's potential to revolutionize industries lies in its sustainable properties, making it a responsible choice for those who seek eco-friendly alternatives without compromising on quality and safety, especially for our little ones.
